about april

I am a wife, a mother to three young children, and a native of the east Texas piney woods. There’s a good chance you’ll find me gardening in our mess of a backyard or baking in our mess of a kitchen. I prefer hands in the dirt, bare feet in the grass, tents under the stars, and the company of good books.

When I’m not homeschooling my children or muddling through their messes, I write. I have a journalism degree from the University of Arkansas, and while I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for reporting, I much prefer the freedom of creative storytelling these days. I believe in the power of stories to enrich, inform and inspire, and I hope to capture just a bit of that magic in my own writing.

We all have stories to tell; here you’ll find a few of mine. You can read my most recent blog posts, or check out some of my published non-fiction and fiction writing.

You’ll also find several ways to get in touch with me. I would love to hear from you.

I’m so glad you’re here. Have a look around. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and stay awhile, friend.
